About the artist

Madoka Naito is an artist from Okinawa who completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Mount Allison University in Canada. Her works are inspired by nature. She is especially influenced by the trees called "gajumaru (banyan trees),” which grow in the southern area of Japan. She explores humans' natural state as part of nature and often examines the contradiction of humans in society. Through her experience of living in different places such as Nepal, Alaska, and Canada, she came to know that right or wrong does not exist but it’s difference that exists, and that truth can only be found within oneself, not in the voices outside. She depicts beauty in the ambiguity of human existence, while exploring its innate creativity and uniqueness as nature. .......................................................................................................................................................................
