Masaki OKUTEN

I am based in a collaborative studio in Asagaya called "Artists studio Hive". In addition to exhibiting my work in Japan and abroad, I open up my studio space once a month to exhibit my work and interact with the public. I felt the primitive lines in the doodles of infants under the age of five, starting with my encounter with my newborn nephew, before he acquired his identity as a human being. I emphasize the visualization of the process of working toward completion by establishing detailed rules for materials, techniques, and number of hands in painting. I believe that the pure lines in the painting are the forms of other people's graffiti when I was an infant, and by masking them from the depths of the painting to the foreground, they transcend time and space as if I were having a conversation with the painter of a cave mural from long ago and far away, while connecting their respective existences within a single painting space.
